Macstitch premium6/17/2023 If you’d like to learn how to use MacStitch, please check out my first video. ![]() There’s only 5 colors, but if you are looking for more free patterns, take a look at my free pattern page! So if you would like a new free pattern that is a cute little work-up for Valentine’s Day, a good beginner project, etc. It is a simple heart, but it involves many of the most important features of MacStitch such as making a new chart, adding colors to the pallet, adding full cross stitches, using backstitch, copy and paste, flipping over an area, adding text, and then exporting the whole thing into a pdf pattern. I made this free pattern specifically for my tutorial. If you’ve found my tutorials useful, all I ask is that you subscribe to my channel. I’ve made a few dozen tutorials on the software by this stage and plan to add more. I think it’s important to encourage other creators, so I want to help others learn to use the software also. I’m generally more tech savy than older users, but I’m not so young that I don’t remember a time before touch screens. I grew up with Windows 95 and loading up DOS software like Oregon Trail or Mavis Teaches Typing. I found this software relatively easy to use, but I believe a lot of that has to do with being a millennial. This is a great software for designing cross stitch patterns, but it does come with a bit of a learning curve. Usually, people end up with MacStitch if they have a Mac or WinStitch if they use Windows. ![]() While websites do exist, if you are serious about making patterns, having a copy of the pattern saved to your computer and in the cloud that you can edit in the future is important. If you have a Mac, your options are a bit more limited. While I enjoy making my own designs, I keep seeing a lot of people wondering how they can make their own cross stitch patterns, which software is a good choice, and then looking for more resources on how to use the software. I kept designing and stitching however and eventually made to plunge to open up my own store. Until 2020 I made patterns just for myself and either created designs I wasn’t confident in or was too nervous to share with others.
